Our Parish

WHERE PEOPLE ARE SINNERS AND SAINTS

History

In the fall of 1964, 45 acres were donated to the Diocese of Covington for a new parish and St. Barbara’s was established.

The first mass of the parish was held August 5, 1967 in the local Levi Strauss company cafeteria. There were about 78 families.  Weekday masses were held at the farmhouse on Richardson Road or in parishioners’ homes until the church was completed July 13, 1969.

We have had several Pastors since then and only two Deacons.  Deacon Bernard Kaiser was ordained on June 20th, 1985 and remains with us still.  Deacon Melville was ordained April 2010, and St. Barbara’s is his first assignment.

The parish hall was dedicated on May 31, 1992.  The addition of the parish center was complete in September 2003 by recycling a local home and putting it on the church property.  The new rectory was also complete in September 2003.

The parish has grown from 78 families to 825.  We have expanded our church to accommodate our growth beginning 2009 and the new church was dedicated by Bishop Foys on February 14, 2010.

Rev. John Sterling, our current pastor, was installed on July 20, 2008.  We are so pleased to have him with us.  Please join us for mass and experience the Holy Spirit with us.
